Take Back the Date 9/11
Yesterday we hosted the first annual "Take Back the Date" party and it was a roaring success! I'd like to thank all of our guests, especially the New York City Firemen who joined us in full uniform, to reclaim 9/11 and overturn the stigma of the date. We toasted to the new expression "Happy September 11th" and spoke in fond remembrance of a former skyline and the friends, family, and heroes we lost. People ate, drank, mingled, and were merry; there was not even the slightest hint of grief. Everybody quelled a bad memory of 9/11/01 with a great memory of 9/11/11.
We throw a lot of parties here in the East Village Garden Grotto, but never have we received so many "thank yous" from our guests. From now on, everyone who attends a "Take Back the Date" party can celebrate heroes and martyrs instead of mourning victims and hating criminals. Why let back guys steal a day of our lives from us every year? Let's not allow that; let's take back the date.
